Trinidad and Tobago, December 2022: The price of electricity is 0.052 U.S. Dollar per kWh for households and 0.053 U.S. Dollar for businesses which includes all components of the electricity bill such as the cost of power, distribution and taxes.
Electrical energy is widely purchased, metered and fed into the national grid from independent power producers. These producers are the Power Generation Company of Trinidad and Tobago (PowerGen) giving a total of 1,344 MW, Trinidad Generation Unlimited (TGU) giving 720MW and Trinity Power Ltd. giving 225 MW.
The Authority routinely monitors and reports on the state of Trinidad and Tobago's telecommunications and broadcasting industry, providing industry trends on the number ofsubscriptions, revenues generated, service penetration, level of market concentration and other areas.
We recommend that households utilizing under 1,000 kwh on a bi-monthly basis should not have any increase in their electricity price. This is around half of the households in the country
