View DetailsThe energy transition and the desire for greater independence from electricity suppliers are increasingly bringing photovoltaic systems and energy storage systems into focus. Photovoltaic systems convert sunlight into electricity that can be used directly in the household or fed into the public grid.
In high-temperature TES, energy is stored at temperatures ranging from 100°C to above 500°C. High-temperature technologies can be used for short- or long-term storage, similar to low-temperature technologies, and they can also be categorised as sensible, latent and thermochemical storage of heat and cooling (Table 6.4).
Viessmann photovoltaic modules and energy storage systems are not only an efficient way to self-generate and use solar power, but they also integrate seamlessly into the ecosystem. For example, they can be combined with a Viessmann heat pump or charging station for electric vehicles.
High-temperature thermal energy storage (HTTES) heat-to-electricity TES applications are currently associated with CSP deployments for power generation. TES with CSP has been deployed in the Southwestern United States with rich solar resources and has proved its value to the electric grid.
